Google Webmaster Tools allows you to verify your site with Google to run diagnostics on your blog, submit your sitemap to Google search, check your page speed, and many other features to optimize your blog for indexing by Google.
1 First, you will need to sign in to Google Webmaster Tools at http://www.google.com/webmasters/. If you already have a Google account, you can sign in to your existing account and add your blog. Or you can create a new Google account.
2 Once you are signed in, you can click the Add A Site button to enter your blog's URL.
Your blog's URL can be found in Typepad by selecting the blog you want to verify from the Blogs menu. Then, click the View blog link to open your blog and copy the URL from the browser address bar.
3 After adding your site, you will be asked to verify ownership. There are two methods to verify ownership - Meta and HTML - and we recommend using the HTML method. From the Verification method drop-down menu, select Upload an HTML file option.
Click the "this HTML verification file" link. You'll be prompted to save the file to your computer. Make note of where the file was saved for reference when you need to upload the file.
4 In Typepad, go to Library > File Manager and click on the folder for your blog. In this example, the folder name is "blog". Then, click the Browse button on the right and select the file from your computer. Click Upload to upload the file to your account.
5 Back in your Google account, click the Verify button to complete the process. Google also has information on verifying your site here.
Now that you have verified your blog with Google, you can set up your blog's sitemap and verify the sitemap within your Google account as described in the creating a sitemap article.
