Now that your blog is created, and you have blog posts published, the next step is getting people to read it.
Connect With Other Bloggers
Besides sharing your blog with people you already know, look for other bloggers who write about similar topics or just topics that interest you - even if your blog is not about the subject. You can create an account with Bloglovin’ and find blogs that way. We have more recommendations of places to join to connect with other bloggers here.
Build A Blogger Community
Once you start following blogs and leaving thoughtful comments regularly on their posts, the blogger will get to know you. If available, always include a link to your blog in your comment so other readers and the blog owner can check out your blog. Building an online community is so important for growing your blog. This includes following and connecting with other bloggers on Social Media. Responding to tweets or retweeting a blog update is a courtesy that will likely be reciprocated.
Share Your Blog On Social Media
Bloggers like to post their blog links to their social media accounts every time they update their blog. It is the fastest way to get the word out when you publish new content. You can also keep a clickable link to your blog on your bio (ie: Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest).
Create An Email Update Option
Mailchimp has a feature that allows you to create an email list of people who want to be notified not only when you update your blog, but read your post directly from their inbox. Emails are a great option for readers to read blogs and it allows them to forward your content to others.
Optimize Your SEO
Is your Sitemap enabled in Typepad? At Settings > SEO, make sure you have both boxes checked for “Publicize This Blog” and “Yes, generate Google Sitemap.” A sitemap can help you obtain information on the visibility of these pages and publicize your blog in search indexes.
You can also improve your SEO within your blog posts with your post title, permalink, meta keywords and description. Search engines like Google will pick up on all of this data when indexing your blog for search results. We have more tips on making SEO work for your blog in Everything Typepad.
