After you have initially registered your domain through Typepad, you will need to renew the domain to keep it active. Follow the instructions below to renew from an email reminder or to renew from domains.typepad.com.
Renewing from the email notification
When it is time to renew your domain, you will receive an email from Typepad. Please make sure [email protected] is added to your email contacts to ensure all notifications from Typepad appear in your inbox.
Click on the green Renew Orders button in the email to get started. This will take you to the domains.typepad.com login page. Log in with your username and password for the domain registrar account. (This may be different than your Typepad sign in details.) If you are not sure of the login credentials, please reach out to support, we would be happy to help.
Once you are logged in, you will see a list of domains that need to be renewed. Select the domain you want to renew. On the Domain registration page, click on the green Renew button on the top right. In the window, select how many years you want to renew your domain, select Include Privacy (recommended), then Renew Domain Name. To learn more about why you want to pick Privacy, jump to the Adding Privacy Protection section.
Next, you will see your invoice. Under Pay Online, select Typepad Billing Information and Continue. On the new page, you will need to approve the domain purchase, then click on Complete Registration.
Once we process your transaction your renewal is complete.
Renewing directly at the domain registrar
If you don’t receive a notification email or can’t find it, you can log into your domain account at domains.typepad.com. Click on Welcome (Your Name), then My Account. Click on Manage Orders, then List/Search Orders. Select the domain you want to renew.
On the Domain registration page, click on the green Renew button on the top right. In the window, select how many years you want to renew your domain, select Include Privacy (recommended), then Renew Domain Name. Next, you will see your invoice. Under Pay Online, select Typepad Billing Information and Continue.
On the new page, you will need to approve the domain purchase, then click on Complete Registration. Once we process your transaction your renewal is complete.
Adding Privacy Protection
Without protection, your personal information is included in the public WHOIS directory. All domains are required to be included in the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) database, and WHOIS is the tool used to search the public information for domains. Domain registrars allow you to purchase privacy protection to hide your information from the WHOIS directory. For more information on why domain ownership is public, we recommend reviewing this FAQ article on the topic.
