An animated GIF can be embedded in a Post or Page. For the image to animate, the full size image needs to display.
An animated GIF is inserted similarly to other image files. Click Insert Image, choose the image to upload, and select the Full width option.
After adding the GIF to the Post or Page, click the HTML tab to view the code for the image. Find 800wi at the end of the image URL.
Change 800wi to pi. This change makes sure the original image size is used and is necessary for the image to animate.
Once the change is made to the code, click back to the Rich Text tab to view the image in the Post or Page.
The GIFs will not animate in thumbnail form. If you have set Excerpts with a Featured image to display, any GIFs displaying with the excerpt will not animate.
