Uploading Images from Windows XP File Explorer

If you use Windows XP on your computer, you can upload photos to Typepad without even needing to open your browser. Note, this capability is available to all Pro plans.

First you will need to download Typepad's Windows XP file upload utility. To find this, go to Library > Photo Albums and scroll down to the bottom of the right sidebar where you will see an ad for the uploader.

Click on the image to download the utility. You can also go directly to this link if you are logged in to your Typepad account.

Installation

To begin, download the photo wizard above. If your computer has not been configured to load registry settings automatically, you will be prompted to select a program with which to open wizard.reg.

Open the file with regedit.exe. You may need to browse your computer to find this program. It is typically found at C:\Windows\regedit.exe. When you have located the program, click OK.

Windows may issue a warning to make sure that you want to load the file into your registry. Click the Yes button to continue.

When the wizard has been properly installed, Windows will present a dialog indicating that information has been successfully installed into your registry.

Uploading Photos

Locate your photos

Open My Pictures on your computer and navigate to the folder that contains the photos you wish to upload.

Start the publishing tool

If you wish to upload the entire folder, click Publish this folder to the web under File and folder tasks. Or select one or more files in the folder and click Publish the selected items to the web.

Confirm photos to upload

This will open the Web Publishing Wizard. Click Next to start the process. You will have a chance to review the photos you have selected for upload and you can add more photos or deselect some photos if you no longer wish to upload them. When you have confirmed the file selection, click Next.

Choose where to publish the files

You will see one or more options for where to publish the files. If the Typepad upload tool was installed correctly, one of the options will be to upload files to Typepad.

Log into Typepad

After you have chosen Typepad as the service you wish to upload your files to, you will be prompted to log in to your Typepad account. Enter your email address or login member name and your password, then click Next.

Choose your photo album

Once you have successfully logged in to your Typepad account, you will be asked to choose which of your photo albums you wish to upload the files to. You can also create a new album if you wish. Select the desired album and click Next.

Choose a size for the photos

If you would like to resize your photos before uploading them, select Yes, make them all this size and choose the desired size. or clear the checkbox if you do not wish to rezie the photos. Click Next to proceed.

Upload files

The wizard will automatically upload your photos. When the upload is complete you will see a screen letting you know what album the photos were uploaded to. You can choose to visit the album when you click Finish in the wizard.
