Setting Up Media TypeLists

Amazon Associates with Media TypeLists

Links to books or music that appear in your TypeLists are automatically linked to the Amazon information pages for those items, with an Amazon Associates code added on to the end of the link URL. You can set this to your own Amazon Associates ID:

   1.  Click on the Control Panel tab in TypePad.
   2.  Click on the Profile sub-tab.
   3.  In the Amazon Associates ID field, enter your Associates ID.
   4.  Press the Update Author Profile button at the bottom of the page.

The links to the book and music items will automatically be updated with your Associates ID.

If you do not already have an Amazon Associates ID, you can learn more about and join (it’s free) the program here:

Setting the Vendor with Media TypeLists

If you wish to use a different localized version of Amazon for your lists, you can change this setting in your author profile:
1. Click on the Control Panel tab in TypePad.
2. Click on the Profile sub-tab.
3. Select the vendor you wish to use from the Local Vendor menu. If your local version of Amazon is not listed in that menu, that means that Amazon does not offer Web Services for your country.
4. Press the Update Author Profile button at the bottom of the page. Future items added to your book or music list will use the localized version of Amazon that you have selected.

Displaying TypeLists on Your Weblog

You can add a TypeList to your weblog sidebar by setting the template for the weblog to display the TypeList.

If you do not have any TypeLists yet, you can add one by Creating a New TypeList.

Displaying TypeLists Using Weblog Basic Templates

1 Enter your design area for your weblog

On your Weblogs tab, click the Edit DesignEdit Design shortcut for the weblog where you would like to display a TypeList. Then, click the Content link for your currently selected template set to enter the template Content area.

2 Select the lists to display

On the Content page, under the “Your TypeLists” heading, click the checkbox or checkboxes next to TypeList(s) you would like to display on the weblog.

3 Press “Save Changes”

Press the button and Your TypeLists will now appear in your weblog sidebar, and any new items that you add will automatically appear there as well.

Displaying TypeLists Using Weblog Advanced Templates

TypeLists are added to a weblog advanced template using the TypeList Tags (advanced templates do not have a Content link on the Design tab).
