Uploading Files from Windows XP File Explorer

You can download a small file which integrates into the Windows XP file explorer to enable you to create and publish a batch of photos into a TypePad photo album.

1 Download the Wizard

To begin, you must first download the photo upload wizard. If your computer has not been configured to load registry settings automatically you will be prompted to select a program with which to open wizard.reg. You may see a dialog similar to the one below:

Open the file with regedit.exe. You may need to browse your computer to find this program. It is typically found at C:\Windows\regedit.exe. When you have located the program, click "OK."

Windows may issue a warning to make sure that you want to load the file into your registry. Click the "Yes" button to continue.

When the wizard has been properly installed, Windows will present a dialog indicating that information has been successfully installed into your registry as in the window below.

2 Find the photos to upload

Now that the wizard is installed, from any Windows file folder you can click on the "Publish to the Web" link located in the "File and Folder Tasks" area of the file explorer. To upload photos, navigate to a folder and click "Publish this folder to the Web" or select the photos you wish to upload and click "Publish the selected files to the Web."

3 Initiate the publishing wizard

Clicking "Publish this folder to the Web" will initiate the XP publishing wizard .

4 Select the photos to upload

The wizard will then ask for you to select the photos you wish to upload. Verify that the files you wish to upload have been selected and click "Next."

The wizard will then ask you where you wish to upload your photos. To upload to TypePad, select "TypePad: Personal Weblogging Service."

5 Login to TypePad

If you are not logged in, the wizard will prompt you for your username and password. Enter them and click "Next."

Once you are loggied in, you will see the following message confirming you have logged into TypePad correctly.

6 Select and Configure a Photo Album

The wizard will then prompt you for the photo album you wish to upload your photos into. Select a photo album, or click "Create New Album."

If you decided to create a new album, select a name for the album and your publicity option and click "Next." Then select the album you just created from the pull down menu and click "Next" again.

The wizard will then ask if you wish to resize the photos you will upload. Select your preference and click "Next."

7 Upload your photos

The wizard will then upload the photos you selected into the selected album.

When complete, the wizard will display the final step and ask if you wish to view the photos you uploaded. When you are done, click "Finish."

Uploading Files from a Macintosh

Many TypePad users have had success using PhotoToTypePad, an iPhoto plugin that enables users to export your photos directly to a TypePad photo album. The plugin allows users to specify their prefered image size as well as to create new photo albums directly from iPhoto. A very simple and easy to use tool.

Also from Daikini Software is Photon, another iPhoto plugin that allows users to export photos directly to a photo album or weblog.

Uploading Multiple Images Using Zip Files

Any user can upload multiple photos at once regardless of your browser, platform or operating system. Package all the photos you wish to upload into a single .zip file, and then from the Add Photos screen select "I'm uploading a zipped folder." Select the zip file from your local computer and click the Upload button. TypePad will then add each photo in the zip file to your currenly selected photo album.
